Resurrected to new life

#1 Post by Carpdaddy »

  Dug a half dozen old aluminum arrows out of the "Bucket", cut them off, and fletched them all but one. After digging one out last week and being surprised by how well it flew I resurrected more! The biggest shock was how well the bare shafts flew also, not use to that! I think they are happy to be brought back to life.

2213's cut off to 29" with 200 grain tips. They are a 460 spine, shooting them from my 42# ShadowCarp. Just came back in from shooting them, here is one shot bareshaft at 15 yards.

I have always liked aluminum shafts.

I've had such good luck with Easton XX75. Tons of practice, and much meat in the freezer with them joined with trad bows. My old Black Widow SAIII and also the Martin Super Diablo really loved them.

Looks straight in the target Tony..seem to fly straight too?

A slight left kick to left making point hit right on most shots. Also with slight nock high flight but I like where it is so I just placed the arrow nock just below string nock on bareshaft.

Aluminums are my favorite arrows by far. Most forgiving and easiest to tune.

Been too many years since I had used them. I use carbons most, Bamboo second, but these are moving up fast.

Yepper...aluminums are a great material. Both my boys use them with their Maddog longbows. They are a really sweet combo. I've used aluminum more then other material types. Wood is probably the next most used by me and only a few months with carbon. So far, none have failed me...and I like them all. I do think woods or cane (never shot the later) can be more work involved but still a great shaft material. I dont think i mind sending any of the materials into target or through a set of lungs!
