A Teaser, of sorts
Well, you all know I've been rather, umm...busy...getting my feet wet in the woodies pool. Here are a few shots of my next endeavor. One half-dozen Port Orford cedar, 30" arrows.
I might not be very good at this yet but I sure am having fun!

Thanks. I've been experimenting and tweaking as I go. Feathers and the remaining nocks will go on this week. I might have to get more Ferrl-tite before the field points can go on.graps wrote:It's addictive .

The stain is Varathane pecan, 2 coats. Cap dip is Rustoleum spray enamel, cresting paint is good ol' Testor's and everything is dipped in 2 coats of Polycrylic. I'm quite happy with the way everything is working out.

I've lost a ton of heads using that stuff. It gets hard, then any decent jolt, or just time after time of shooting, it cracks like glass away from the bond of the head, and you know it did because you'll leave your head in your target. I've still got to tear apart an old block target to retrieve ump-teen woody weights and field tips from failures of that stuff.
I went to Quick Stick hot melt and since then I've lost maybe 1 head in the target? I've never used anything non permanent as good. 3Rivers, Big Jim, and a number of other supplies outfits sell it by the slug. A $9 slug last and last and last and last and....
