Re: Hunting the Osage Bow build along **Let the tillering begin**
I have a question for you.
If that bow has a twist to it and you are now tillering it, is that called a rototiller?

Re: Hunting the Osage Bow build along **Handle**
A lot of work done today specifically on the handle section. Wanted to do a quick rough out of the handle section because it’s shape can affect the tiller. I went ahead and decided to cut an arrow rest because I wanted one. Normally I would probably do the tiller with a draw knife but I have a couple knots in the lower limb that are going to be a problem because they catch the draw knife and rip wood. So I have decided to do all but the final tillering with a rasp. The benifit with the rasp is that it is extremely easy to target a specific area and I feel the control is more precise when dealing the problem areas. I’m getting a tinch more bend then before and am making good progress. Also cut the bow to itjs final length today 62”. I had an extra half inch on there just in case and felt as though today was the day to remove it. Center for the bow is a centimeter underneath the arrow rest. As soon as floor tillering is complete we are gonna get some steam going and address the propeller. Hope you all are enjoying this build along, as much as I am.

My guess is we are enjoying it MORE than you since we don't have to do any work.

I'm loving this build a long.
But like Kirk said, we don't have to do the work.

Looking good! Now if you ever want to graduate to building laminated bows it will be a breeze! Much harder to whittle out a selfbow, but you are doing great.

I don't know about easier... I dont have any of the equipment for that. I suppose I'll have to try it at some point, but I have no idea where to start. Any good literature on the subject?

Years ago I had some videos from Binghams, I have no idea what happened to them, if I locate them I’ll send to you. Most and best info came from sites like this one, most bowyers are quite helpful.

Forgot to do a brief update. Took a bit more off the limbs, looks identical to the last update and still not getting too much bend on floor tillering. Purchased some shellac and sandpaper for finishing purposes. Need more time to work. Perhaps Tuesday.
