Looks like it will be a green one. I wanted clear glass over some fine looking wood like black/white Ebony but my pocket book refused! Maybe next time; for now I'll be Mr. Green.
Here's what I got: two pieces of green glass, a big hunk of Bublinga on right for the riser, and a bunch of bamboo laminations in the middle for the core wood. This will be my first using all bamboo cores, if this is a bad idea I'm depending on Jose to tell me before I mess up. You listening Jose?
Nutin' wrong with bubinga Tony. In fact, its one of my most preferred riser woods. That looks like a nice piece of wood you got there too. Im waiting anxiously for this build!
The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.
Laminations come in two 36" pieces rather than one full length, probably to save shipping cost. So my first project is to make them full length. I do this by sanding the two pieces at an angle while holding them back to back.
Now to start on the riser. First I clamp to the backside of the form and draw a line across the bottom to fit the form, sorry no picture of that. Then to the bandsaw to cut out.
