I agree with the pinch point. One of my spots is a steep hill. At the base of th hill, it goes 30 yards to a steep drop off into the creek. 90% of the deer going thru use this area. Another spot I like are trail intersections. I try to sit within range of where they intersect. As for stands I really like cedar trees or being close to a cedar. They give a great backdrop and conceal movement. I like to look for spots I can hang a stand and have a couple big trees out in front of me. IMO, if your hunting the ground, the biggest thing is have a good back drop so you dont silhouette yourself.

thanks for the tip guys. I will try and keep my eyes out for a pinch point. There are so many trail out there you can get dizzy trying to follow them all. That spot I was setting on was in front of and intersection. But the deer took a trail a little bit ahead.

On the property there are a lot of horse shoe or circle shaped openings with a wall of trees all around them. I have noticed there is usually a good heavy trail that will cut directly across the clearing and a heavy trail that hugs the trees on the edge of the clearing.

Have u guys noticed similar pattern? Were you able to use them to bag a deer?

Views from this morning hunt. And cool tree I found. No deer but had a close encounter with a yote. Had him at 10 yards but couldn’t get pulled back. He was coming straight to me. He raised his head and saw me. Had the heart pumping.
