Post-season activities?
So, now that most bow seasons have ended, or are about to end, what are your post-season archery activities going to entail?
Bow/arrow making?
Buying a new bow?
Practice, practice, practice?
Fitness/training?
Or, an extended vacation from bows and bowhunting (anti-burnout)?

I can't wait to pick up the new bow and get arrows made up and practice like crazy.

Re: Post-season activities?
Yeah, my first year as trad-only was really intense for practice and fitness. I admit I really slacked this past year and didn't even make it out afield this season (my own fault, partially). I bought three new (old) bows last year and haven't even hunted with them!
My big thing this year is to work on developing a heavy FOC wood arrow as has been outlined by some on this site over the past year and getting some practice time in before next season.

1. Build a new bow (or two).
2. Attend some traditional archery shoots.
3. Continue shooting regularly.
4. Relocate some stands.
5. Refletch some arrows.
6. Clean up and store broadheads.
7. Put away all my hunting clothing and stuff and listen to my wife rejoice!

Re: Post-season activities?
Im going to try to,,,,,
Get a carbon hunting arrow tuned figured out for my new bow when it gets here.(already have a shaft kit waiting)
Buy a dozen shafts and build them according to my findings.
Start asking permission from a list of landowners Ive been making.
Scare the living bageebies out of the entire turkey population around me.
Perfect my release.
Spend lots of time flickin sticks.
Spend more time at the public range, in hopes of accomplishing 2 things. One, quit being an archery hermit and get use to shooting with strangers ,,,and 2, hope to find access to, and work my way into a club for traditional archery, for enjoyment and comradery.

The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.

I like that Turkey spooking plan Shadow, I think I'll add that to my spring agenda!
Re: Post-season activities?
I take a break for a few months and pursue other passions. Predator hunting, Fishing, I do continue to.shoot once or twice a week if time permits. However, when the White Bass and Crappie are running it's hard to pick up a bow sometimes. I'm out in the boat, kayak, or walking feeder creeks. I do get alot of scouting in while fishing the creeks so it all works out. As far as strictly traditional archery goals.... I just need to buy a few broadheads and make some arrows. No desire for a new bow or change at this time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Don't count Ron; you are always working on something, even during the season.Stay Sharp wrote:Building broadhead targets. Lots of them.

As busy and industrious as Ron is, I'm beginning to think he's an alien or something!
