2018 Gear Setups

#1 Post by Longtrad »

What's is your bow/arrow/quiver set up for this year? Please take the time to show them off and explain the gear you are using. Don't be afraid to share the nitty gritty details of your rig either! I'm talking arrow weight, FoC, broad heads, fletching, the whole works, If you have a hunting rig and a separate target or small game rig then share them both.

I'll start it out with a bang! Flatline Cardiac Arrest Longbow "Phoenix" LH 43lbs at 28" and 66" long. Babinga riser with multi-wood inlay and maple pinstripe, limbs are red cedar. Bow will also have a string tracker attached to it! Never get tired of showing this beauty off! The bow is named the Phoenix because it looks like you are staring into a flame, seriously mesmerizing to look at I use a bear paw, Indian Summer, back quiver made of soft brown suede leather. Arrows are 29.75" spruce shafts with bohning classic nocks, 125-grain bear razorback heads, and 3" shield cut feathers. May also alternate my Flatline Widow Maker Recurve "Ara" RH 42lbs at 28" and 62" long. Babinga and maple riser with multi-wood inlay and maple stripe, limbs are also red cedar. The only reason I won't take one of these beauties into the woods is if I successfully finish a selfbow, then I may take that.

Thanks for sharing Dave! You have some really beautiful rigs there. Are the limbs interchangeable between the risers? If you were going to do a threepeat with flatline would you go with the longbow or recurve?

They are not, each limb set is custom fit to each riser. From talking to Jose though, if I ever broke a limb, I would simply send the riser in and have the new set of limbs fitted to the riser. Riser would have to be refinished with new limbs but hey... no biggie there. I am planning to actually at least four-peat with Flatline. For my third, as long as it doesn't sell beforehand, I have my eye on one of his hypertension longbows (one piece). Then whenever I finish paying off my student loans, I'll be buying myself and a friend twin bows from Jose. At least that is the plan. You all have no idea until you shoot one of these things... It's just another world...

lately I have been doing a lot of shooting with my black hunter 3p longbow 40# 60" full length 600 spine arrows with 150 grain points. this has turned into my back yard/target rig and I really love it, it's my second favorite bow. I'll try and get some pics in when i get home from the office.

1968 Bear Kodiak Hunter. I think the quiver is a Thunderhorn, but I'm not sure. Regardless, it is a leather capped, 4 arrow quiver. The arrows are 30", GT Trad blems from Big Jims with 170 grain points, and 5.5" shield fletch.
