Oh wow, did that thing sneak up on you that close or did you use a zoom lens?

That’s a great picture whatever the reasoning in the Deer’s mind. Sometimes they just do strange stuff!
I once had a Doe run up beside me as I was climbing into my climber, I was Still at the base of the tree, bow on ground, and I could almost reach out and touch her. She was looking ahead and never saw me.

They sure don’t like your Turkey decoy. Did a fight break out?
Re: Pictures from your stand
They just stared at it for a while wondering what’s wrong with this turkey and went about their morning

Tom,
I've had deer do near the same. Most of the time they are younger more inexperienced animals. I have had a few that were of good age and should have known better but didn't though. I dont think all animals react exactly the same no matter the location, but in general one would think they could easily pick out human scent. I feel in very low pressure areas with little human intrusion things look a bit different as far as their response, as well as those that are continually surrounded by humans that never threaten the deers privacy and security. In both cases the deer , I believe, to respond differently then we might come to expect in other places.

The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.

Jason,
Yeah I think that is what I am seeing. I am used to Bowhunting Whitetail on the river bottom where there is public access hunting.
Up here in the lower foot hills, private property, they see and smell people that they nearly live with. Way less hunting pressure.
Anyway I now have a Whitetail Deer B license and I'll try not to get caught with my phone in my hand instead of my bow.

Finally got in a tree, sure wish I had not once I was there, too hot for man or beast! It was absolutely miserable humid. I sat there in the shade of a big tree with sweat pouring, finally had to strip, shirt and hat anyway, I’ll spare you that picture! But got a few pictures to prove I was dumb enough to try. I wasn’t about to shoot anything less than a monster!

Been raining for two weeks. A little wet I think. Didn't see anything. My White Oak flat.
