A sad day indeed!
I was sighting in my bow and while at full draw I heard that most dreaded sound, some type of crack!!!
I quickly began looking carefully and spotted a crack between backing and the riser. I guess it had to happen sometime but why my favorite bow?? I have never had one do this before and I’m scratching my head. This bow has a couple years of continued use. It stays strung year round and is shot quite frequently. I am a little suspicious of this terrible heat spell we are having. I have been noticing the temperature in my garage lately, it has been right at 100 degrees with the door open, untelling how hot with it closed. Don’t know if it was that, the Zebrawood, or just a bad glue line, but it’s a sad day! I could probably fix it but would always be worried. This is the bow that keep me from building another one this year, it just shot so well for me! Now to decide whether to build another one before season or use a different one?? Okay; enough crying!

Re: A sad day indeed!
RIP. Feel for you tony. Personally I would build a new one and post all the pics.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
Re: A sad day indeed!
Sad indeed. I've always admired that bow in all your photos.
I'd never thought of this before, but I wonder if it's because of the modern era of air conditioning,
that so many of the bows from the 50,s, 60's and 70's are still going strong. I hang all of ours along
the basement steps where it remains somewhat cool.
I would guess that this heat wave might have weakened the bow a bit out in an unregulated garage.
Doesn't get as hot as a car, but I sure wouldn't want to leave my Hershey's Dark Chocolate out there long.

Jesus replaces the old covenant and speaks to the believer the moral code of God by His Spirit directly to the heart. He is the eternal, everlasting revelation of God to mankind. In Him is both the knowledge of righteousness and the power to live right.

OUCH!
At least it didn't blow up in your hand.

I’m working now at pooling my poverty to order some materials. But it’s terrible hot and season is close, and to top it all I’ll be in Revival all next week! Oh my, may have to jerk an old one down, or use the last one, it is a little longer but...(thinking out loud here)!

Tony I have some walnut I could send you.

Wah wah. It's like the shoemaker crying about having a hole in his shoes...
JK, Tony. That stinks. You could be quite right about the temps too.
I also really loved the look of that bow. I guess I would glue it and make a wall-hanger out of it...and start planning on the next build. You could always hunt with Greenie this season.

Re: A sad day indeed!
Thanks for the generous offer Greg, I have lots of wood, just not enough time and equipment to turn it into lams. I still have bows thankfully, but that was my best fit, and shooter. After unstringing you can hardly tell anything is wrong with it, so no need to repair to hang on Wall.
A picture of the crack, actually the glue line between lam and riser, about 2” long.
