Instinctive Chronicles

#1 Post by stumper »

Poured over my four current bows today, not including self bow and flatline in production and selected the widow maker “ara” as my bow for this upcoming season (pending a test of the new flatline hypertension). Shot two or three groups at 12,16, and 20 yards. Even shot a few from my kids new tree fort and the results were much better than expected.

Starting to practice a lot more to get these instinctive skills ready for this season. The goal is to get consistency at 20 yards and closer.

Funny I always tell people what prefer longbows and that is typically true, I prefer the way they shoot. However both bows of my collection that I have considered my favorites in my collection at one point (grizzly and now the widow maker) are recurves. Hmmm reminds me. I need to get a backup recurve now that my friend has the grizzly.

Nothing wrong with a recurve. I've shot them for over 50 years.
I've still to take an animal with a longbow. :?

I'll have you know, the Old K-Mag is officially retired now that I have the Helms Deep.
I'm thinking of setting my ground blind on blocks so I can shoot my Cardiac Arrest inside there.

Oh wow.... That Helms Deep is a looker for sure. Do you set your blind up a while in advance so deer get used to it or do you just set up the day of? Wait for a second...you have a helms deep, Hypertension, and cardiac arrest and don't have a longbow kill yet?

The K-Mag has most of the scores. ;)
I'll put it out by August 1st and our season starts October 1st.

Nice shootin' Dave. You're coming right along.
After my session earlier this week, I'm actually considering the possibility of trying the K-mag in the blind.

I go back and forth between split instinctive and 3u gap. I will say my groups on paper targets are much tighter with the 3u gap method, the split finger comes into play on those longer shots though.
