If you want to see the biggest buck of your life up close and personal, fill your buck tag and keep hunting...
The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.

If you arrow a deer on top of a hill , it will run down the hill in the opposite direction that you need to drag it out .

If there is a limb, no matter how small, anywhere between you and the Deer, your arrow will find it!

Had a nice shot at a 6 point at just under 20 yards .
My arrow flipped over just a few feet from the buck .
Found out that I hit the only green briar in the area .
Yep , been there done that .

Amazing how we can relate to so much of this stuff. It’s funny now but not so much at the time. I had the same thought about wounded Deer always running in the opposite direction of the truck or camp, and downhill. Got on here and you had beat me to it Graps! Ain’t it the truth.

I was talking with Byron Ferguson a few years ago and he told me of this one time he saw a PY class buck , perfectly broadside , just a little over 20 yards and standing still .
He took the shot and the arrow stopped in mid air just a foot or so from the deer .
The buck ran off and the arrow was still suspended in mid air .
This kinda gave Byron the creeps .
He walked over to the arrow and discovered that there was an old rusty barbed wire fence and the arrowhead had hit perfectly between the twisted strands of wire and it was pulled so tight that it held the arrow without moving .
