Had a nice shot at a 6 point at just under 20 yards .
My arrow flipped over just a few feet from the buck .
Found out that I hit the only green briar in the area .
Yep , been there done that .

Amazing how we can relate to so much of this stuff. It’s funny now but not so much at the time. I had the same thought about wounded Deer always running in the opposite direction of the truck or camp, and downhill. Got on here and you had beat me to it Graps! Ain’t it the truth.

I was talking with Byron Ferguson a few years ago and he told me of this one time he saw a PY class buck , perfectly broadside , just a little over 20 yards and standing still .
He took the shot and the arrow stopped in mid air just a foot or so from the deer .
The buck ran off and the arrow was still suspended in mid air .
This kinda gave Byron the creeps .
He walked over to the arrow and discovered that there was an old rusty barbed wire fence and the arrowhead had hit perfectly between the twisted strands of wire and it was pulled so tight that it held the arrow without moving .

Before moving look with my eyes as far as I can in either direction. Then move my head, and use my ears! Never trust that it's a squirrel, again...

If you have to take a leak, that's when you will see the biggest buck of the season. And he will simply watch you, not run.
Aim small, miss small!
