Re: Practice shot numbers
Any chance you dinged em with another arrow prior to explosion?

Re: Practice shot numbers
The one that broke last night had a thumper on the tip so there is no way it got hit with another arrow. The break today was a bare shaft and it could very well have got hit. The only other thing I can think of is I swapped the arrow ends around and had to remove a few of the mocks with pliers. Maybe that could have damaged them

Sometimes a loose-fitting nock on the string can shatter?

Re: Practice shot numbers
Man I thought I shot a lot of arrows but y'all have me smoked lol. A long practice session for me is probably about 50-70 arrows. Sometimes more but I've learned for me with my attention issues I can only concentrate so long. As soon as I start creeping or not dialing in 110% I quit. I do shoot multiple times a day though. I'm lucky enough to have a 15 yard range in my basement and some 3D targets outside. I just tell the wife I'm going to get laundry from downstairs than I sneak outside and fling a few. I do feel like the feedback I get from taking "cold shots" like that helps me stay accurate. When I go stump shoot I'll shoot hundereds of arrows but I usually take a lighter poundage bow.

Re: Practice shot numbers
Sometimes when my shooting is struggling as it has been these last few days I find it benefits me to just lay off a few days and let my sights reset! I know that sounds crazy but I think I'm going to give it another try and see if it works for me again.

You've been hittin' it pretty hard these last few weeks, Tony. Sometimes a few days to defrag the old hard drive works wonders.

Re: Practice shot numbers
I got forced to reset mine. Last week shooting right at sessions end, my strike plate came off. It's beaver tail leather and I absolutely love that stuff. But...it goes on with barge cement, of which I had NONE. So I'm waiting on the order of it and a couple more dozen white nocks to arrive. Then it's back to game on!

I had the same problem, I stuck mine back down with a couple drops of superglue
Re: Practice shot numbers
75 to 100 here, I shoot a nice very light 45 lbs. never hurt to shoot except when I was injured at work. Since then no pain. Used to shoot a 65 pound longbow but decided that could be bad for my shoulder long term, though I really don't know. Switched to 45 and have never looked back.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
Re: Practice shot numbers
I'm down to a 42# bow but due to health issues it is still a struggle.
