I wish! Never got to hunt those, would love to though. This is just my Deer hunting arrows. Overkill? Probably, especially on a good shot, I like to be prepared for those less than idea hits. Like last season when I went down through a shoulder blade and out the bottom side, I don’t always hit my spot! They shoot quite and hit hard, great for short range treestand hunting. But we are all different and different things suit us.

Ahhhh....gottcha Carpy! Yeah pretty good difference between the target set and hunters!
The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.

It is, I expected to see my arrows hitting much lower, especially when I got to 30 yards! But why didn’t I?Shadowhntr wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 10:55 am Ahhhh....gottcha Carpy! Yeah pretty good difference between the target set and hunters!
I can tell that they are not hitting the target as fast, so they have got to be dropping more. I couldn’t stand it no more so I went out and tried to gap some to see. Nearly drove myself crazier if possible. Had to stop that quickly. I’m just going to shoot heavy the rest of this year and claim that somehow in my intelligentual genius mind I am compensating.

Be careful you don't strain your genius to the point of breaking.

Anything that drives me crazy would be a short drive, wouldn’t even need seatbelts for that trip!
When we go to a trad shoot there will be targets like Elk, Buffalo, and even Moose. Then some small ones like skunk, Turkey, or fox. The big ones are usually much farther than they appear, I like my lighter target arrows then. I was just expecting more problems when changing to my hunting arrows. I’m probably the only nut that changes out arrows, its my first time trying it.

Some days it just happens, not that often, but it does! First shot of the day about 14 yards and I heard the click of the pop lid! Second at 19 plucked a wild shot. But then nearly hit it again from same distance. Forth and last from 24 yards and the pop lid took flight!! It could only go downhill from there so I quit. Well that coupled by the fact that some kids next door came out to play in yard. Yep, there are three heavy arrows in there.

I tell people, it's surprising just how often you will hit the bottle cap.

I really like that bow!
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

Looks like it didnt take you long to getter sighted in.
I doing a bit of day dreaming today thinking of ways to up arrow weight and not reduce foc or change spine needs, I couldn't really think of anything better than a half section of tubing. What is the difference in foc between the half section of tube and a full shafts worth?
I also was wondering why try going up in spine and up in point weight, that should net a lot more foc.

Thanks Dave. I did a complete step by step build along in the bowyers section but I think Photobucket took all the photos away.
