Kill Zone!

#1 Post by Carpdaddy »

Smaller targets do make smaller groups! This morning I shot at a kill zone replacement that a friend gave me from his fancy targets. Yep I backed it up with a feedsack! More backyard fun..

First round from varied ranges, 15-20 yards, how many arrows can you get in a kill zone?

Second and final round walking around from different angles, using different bows also. Morning fun!!
Hopefully I will be ready for tomorrow morning. Three of us are leaving at 6:30 in the morning, driving an hour and a half, and meeting with a bunch of other nuts for some competitive arrow slinging fun!

Nice shooting, Tony! You are getting mighty brave in that backyard! Good luck on your weekend excursion. Pictures required; no excuses tolerated, Y'all come back now, hear? 8-)

Those were my thoughts also, as I looked at the layout of the yards. When I was shooting everyday or so, I also might have others who might practice when I wasn't there. I believe that is what lead to a neighbor finally complaining. It was what others did or could do. I have seen target arrows ricochet off a target, especially a McKenzie or a backstop and travel 10 or 20 yards and puncture an old time galvanized pail.

I friend of mine built a great backstop out of the plastic wrapped Styrofoam blocks that he found at the local Tractor Supply Store. They gladly gave them away. They come with the utility trailers that they sell. The blocks were only used to support the tongue while they were awaiting sale. Pretty soon, they had a pile of them. Those blocks themselves make great targets. I usually bring one hunting, for practice shots with broadheads or just to confirm my broadhead flight after I miss a shot

One year at the Compton shoot, i picked up a 4" thick sheet of some utility foam that was discarded by some business that was the size of a piece of plywood. I think they were around $20 - $25. A vender would accumulate a truck load of them and sell them as backstops. Worked great for the average shooter, but the heavy bows could penetrate through them. Even an old suspended rug was known to stop arrows years ago.
Jesus replaces the old covenant and speaks to the believer the moral code of God by His Spirit directly to the heart. He is the eternal, everlasting revelation of God to mankind. In Him is both the knowledge of righteousness and the power to live right.

The best thing I have seen for a just incase backstop is a horse mat that they put on the horse stall floor.
They are 4 foot by 8 foot and about 3/4" thick. They will even stop an arrow from a compound bow.

I don’t shoot in my back yard much, just when I’m too lazy to walk across the street to my actual targets. Made a new string last night and was trying it out in my flip flops while dew was still on the grass this morning. That explains only two rounds! Anyhow; the backstop for my target range is the stall mats Graps mentioned, got mine from Tractor Supply, it will definitely stop an arrow! Most stores carry two sizes, I recommend the large for folks like me & ....?!
