I have a nice bow that was built by a local Boyer for me that he built and I purchased for a charity auction. This bow shoots left no matter how week I spine the arrows or tune the shelf. It could be me but I haven’t this problem with any other bow. Any suggestions ?

That’s a beautiful bow! Please share more info about it, like draw weight, your draw length, arrow spines tried, tip weights... Yes left usually indicates stiff spine, but sometimes little tricky things can be missed by any of us. I recently tried something very simple that made an extreme difference in a couple of my takedown bows. Rubber cat whiskers made a great difference in sound, then a stick on rest really threw me for a loop. I was shooting a 45# bow using .400 spine arrows, and hitting good out to 25 yards with bareshafts. I glued some feathers on and was getting a whack sound I didn’t like. I stuck on a bear rest due to curiosity after reading something on another forum, and all my arrows began hitting left. So I changed to 500 spine and wow, right on target again. Don’t know the why but the point is sometimes little things make a lot of difference. You just have to try stuff!
So here is a picture of my 400 spine shot at 25 yards in storage now because I can’t shot them anymore..

47lb 28in . Something just isnt right with the limbs. The string is off center when I draw and letdown with out shooting. I know he will accuse me of twisting the limbs while stringing. But I use a stringer and this is far from my first rodeo. I noticed when I picked the bow up from him it did not look straight. The limbs Not twisted but maybe bent. Very slighty. I think it just kept getting worse. I’m taking them back soon and maybe we can figure out a solution. He’s a great person hopefully we can figure out a fair solution.

Well I sure hope it works out for you, I really like the looks! I don’t know if he is a experienced Boyer or learning, appearance suggest that he is not new to this. Maybe let him shoot the bow and see how it does. Never built one I didn’t spend some time shooting, I call it setting the sights! But I have never built bows to sell, just for a few buddies nearby, a busy bowyer probably don’t have the time for this. Let us know how it works out.

I have never made a take down, have a couple and also shot others. I would inspect the bolt holes, limbs, pockets, tabs what ever there is where the limbs attach. making sure they are square and centered. it is very easy to get them out of line 1/16-1/32" and have things off. 2nd, I would check the limbs and make sure they are the same. Mark a centerline with pencil, tape, chalk whatever. measure to edges at 1/2" increments along the limb checking width. make sure they are the same on each side of the centerline. I am not certain what the center cut would be but if you are trying stiffer spine arrows, you may want to try weaker. I have tuned 45# bows with a full length 600 and 175-200 grains, a 500 approx 250 grain heads. if that don't work, try a 1916 29.5" 125-150 point.
