For example:

Two (a quantity)
Too (also)
To ("function word")
2 (also a quantity)
Tew (to work leather by beating or kneading)

Yet...they all sound the same. No wonder English is the most difficult language to learn.

When John was through with the wood, he threw the scraps away. They must have been too rough.

If rough and tough rhyme, why is it bluff and not blough? And why is a bough not a buff? And if cough was pronounced as plough, would it be a cow? Is it allowable to laugh at a staff meeting? Or laff at a staugh meeting?

If you are going on a trip does that mean you are going to fall down?

All the kids on the playground wanted to skip except Skip, who decided to skip it.

What if you had a big nose, and everyone knows it but you?

I was so tired, I had to lay down on my down pillow.

I had to be really frank with Frank and tell him I did not like franks and beans.

Bill was fit to be tied when he got the vet bill for fixing his pet duck's bill that was injured by the bill of Bill's hat.

Can a boar be both a boor and a bore at the same time?

Can you shoot your bow made from an Osage bough wearing a bow tie or bow in your hair from the bow of your boat? And if you get a nice fish, do you take a bow? If you're a girl, do you bow to your beau with a bow in the bow of your boat?

If Noah wearing shorts had a short on his ark made of wood, would it arc?

If would, could, and should are spelled the same, why not wood, good, stood and hood? And why isn't mood pronounced the same? And what is up with flood? Shouldn't mood be pronounced mud? Where does brood fit in the picture?

When I was shooting my bow made from a bough, I knocked the nock off my arrow.

The widow was in mourning this morning.
