Asparagus

#1 Post by Graps »

So it's asparagus season here and we had a little come up this year and my wife, ( who is the real plant growing expert ) told me we should fertilize the patch and as it goes to seed, break off the seed pods so the nutrition will feed the roots.
Well, that makes sense to me. :)
So now we are at her mother's house and her brother lives with mom and is her caretaker.
He is also very smart about plants and gardening.
My wife was talking to there mom about the asparagus and said she wanted to get some manure to put on her asparagus.
Her brother, without missing a beat, looked at her and said " We like to put butter on ours."

I got in so much trouble because I was laughing, but hay, that was a good one right there.
PS: She told me that I better not tell anybody about it, so it's a secret.

My asparagus has really been putting on. I just need more of it. I got a bunch started from the seeds but they are tiny tikes still. I have 2 really nice mature plants of a large stalked variety though.
