He just could not resist!

While on a road trip to get some finish for the current bows I am working on, we took a detour to the National Bison Range. As we're leaving this guy had jumped the fence in search of something that fancied his taste buds. He had obviously been there before. HE WAS USING HIS ANTLERS TO KNOCK DOWN CR...

Re: Birth of a bow - Elysian

Now it's time to mix up a little epoxy and attach all the overlays. I do the riser overlays on both sides 1st, then move on to the tip overlays. Once I have them clamped I cook each part in the small hot box. Riser-overlays-clamped.jpeg Tip-overlays-clamped.jpeg Heating-riser-overlays.jpeg Daves-bow...

Re: The Birth of a bow - A short Elk Seeker

After applying the back handle overlays and cleaning up the edges, I laid out how I wanted to cut out the riser and stated cutting on this beautiful riser material again. It spooks me everytime. Layout-riser-shape.jpeg Rough-cut-riser.jpeg Once I cut it up some more, I started rough sanding the rise...

Re: Birth of a bow - Elysian

After getting my centerline I layout and start cutting the limb profile and sand to my layout lines which are still strong of what the limbs will actually be. Daves-bow-ready-for-palm-swell.jpeg Now it's on to milling out the riser overlays. I will be putting Osage and green glass in as the accents ...

Re: Shooting Challenge

I spaced out doing the last challenge Sunday morning like I had planned. I need to round up another practice arrow so I'll have 3.

Nice shots James.

Hopefully I get in on this weeks.

Re: Ticks, skeeters, serpents, and itchy plants!

They weren't on your list, but I was within 500 yards of our stands on private ground I have permission to hunt and there were 2 Mountain Lions. Up in the mountains here we'll have the occasional tick. Sometimes the skeeters are pretty enoying. Some areas have rattle snakes. I have run into porcupin...

Re: The Birth of a bow - A short Elk Seeker

I got some string grooves put in and I shaped, tilled and balanced the limbs. Dales-bow-braced.jpeg Then I prepared the overlays for the back part of the handle. I ended up using some of the off cut I was saving so Dale could use it for knife scales. Sorry Dale. Cutting-offcut-for-overlays.jpeg Prep...
