Re: Ramin?
I have a new Sunset Hill longbow on the way and it should be here next week and I want a nice heavy arrow for it. Although I specifically asked about Ramin, I am thinking some ash or hickory might be good choices too. Anyone have experience with ash or hickory and how hard are they to keep straight?...

Ramin?
I love heavy arrows and was thinking of ordering some Ramin shafts. Anybody here have experience with Ramin or an alternative to Ramin that would make a nice heavy arrow?

Congratulations! I agree that you can never have too many arrows and after looking at their website, Raptor looks like a first class outfit. Enjoy!

Re: I need a friend.
It sounds like you did it right. My experience is similar. You can read about parenting all you want to from the "experts" but really it boils down to being a positive role model by showing your children how to behave, how to be a conscientious employee, and a caring human being. We always...

Re: GETTIN AFTER IT!
Good luck! I envy you guys in the North with all of game you have up there. Whitetails are really the only big game around here. I hope you will post pics when you get back.

Re: Nail Footing
I ground the point off of a 190gr field point and drilled it out from the inside and it works perfectly. It makes a nice centered hole in an already tapered shaft. Using 2-7/16" of a 16d nail I was able to add 80gr to the business end of my arrows. I have done 6 shafts so far with no problem. T...

Re: the older I Get.................
I agree. Our state's archery season lasts from 10/1 to 1/15 of the next year. It gives me a good reason to be out in the field. I am a not a good hunter but I enjoy the time I get to spend trying to outsmart whitetails. My children are grown. I have one son serving in an infantry unit in Afghanistan...

Re: Nail Footing
Fred, what do use to add weight when you use your jig? I was a little disappointed in only getting 68gr from 2" of a 16 penny nail. Also, what size bit does the manufactured jig come with? I will likely just break down and buy one. Who besides 3Rivers sells them?
