Re: What # to use long bow
if I understand your question, you arent so concerned about legal minimums, but more about whats ethical and fun with a long bow... 40-50 pounds is a minimum in my mind for arrow speed and penetration on big game...30" with a compound isnt at all the same in traditional gear...especially if you...

old school open carry...
part of traditional archery for me has always been making my own gear...be that bows, arrows, quivers or even knives...plus respecting our roots...realizing that they go pretty far back... My Dad in the 50's and 60's drove that home to me ...I grew up in this all watching him shoot his lemonwood lon...

Re: Broadheads/arrows
I didnt catch what bow you are shooting...or what type arrow...125's are pretty much a good starting point...heavier are good in long bows w/ heavier shafts. I shoot a 50# recurve and use douglas fir shafts...w/ 125 grain zwickeys...have been doing this for a very long time...and have been fortunate...

I was working on some items for shooting and decided to try out a new shooting tab from some buffalo hide I had...I used to manage a buffalo ranch in Colorado, so Buffalo meat and hides were sort of a perc working there.. Buffalo leather is reknowned for its durability, its the leather used in the l...

Re: Right VS Left Helical?
I shoot off the shelf on both my long bow and recurve...I am right handed and use left wing feathers with helical clamps on cedar and DF shafts. I have done this for 35 years and probably because someone way back when told me it was the right thing to do?? truth is I have a 6 pack Jo-Jann I have use...
