Re: Big single bevel heads
You can order ACE in single bevel. You can (could) do the same with Tuskers. Those are plenty big.

Re: Getting shaft poor
Found out that a local bow shop is liquidating his aluminum stock. Bought a dozen 2216 yesterday. Man does aluminum fly good. My mind is telling me to go back and buy every 2216 and 2117 he has.

Re: Found what I'd been missing
I was high end FOC to begin with. 250 grains of the 550 arrow were in the broadhead. Problem was the arrow failed at the insert, it broke through the shaft wall at its deepest point. So it "stuck" good. Shouldn't have used a Snuffer. I like them but not if I'm shooting big, heavy critters ...

Re: Found what I'd been missing
I know this is an old thread. Reading through this gave me the shivers. This is my worst nightmares all over again. Yes he found the deer....but a Looooong time too late. Not directly his fault, but i know in my heart the loss could have been prevented. A quartering away shot is the best shot to ta...

Re: Found what I'd been missing
It wasn't until a day or two later as I was in the shed that I realized I had picked up this deers' shed the year before about 3/4 of a mile from where I shot him. http://i796.photobucket.com/albums/yy241/kbetts_01/ed4c0a04aa08f236900f233f7ce255d0_zpsgqokpapr.jpg I contacted the state deer biologist...

Re: Found what I'd been missing
We looked and we looked. Concentrating our efforts around a ditch crossing, I felt like we had covered as much ground as we could in hopes of finding him. I kept cameras going around his core area but never saw him again, until........turkey season. One blustery morning I plopped myself down in the ...

Re: Found what I'd been missing
Five days later, I got my shot. Even though he's traveling with foes in the last pic, the night I encountered him he was the seventh buck of the evening. The first six went through together with light sparring and really neat vocalizations. He came from behind me.....nine yards away when I first saw...

Re: Found what I'd been missing
More or less a ghost, I only have the one pic above of him in velvet. I got one other picture when he went hard horned. You can see him on the far left.

Found what I'd been missing
I don't make it a point to pick out a single deer a year to pursue. However, if I find a good one I will do what I can to put it together. This one was on the list this past season.
