A good day.

#1 Post by stumper »

Yesterday was a good day. I finally got some time to sit down and finish saving the dozen arrows that I ruined with crappy fletch glue. Previously I sanded the arrows back down to just past the finish and then reapplied three coats of tung oil.

Feathers and bear paw archery glue arrived and I fletched 11 and left one bare. Here is the first shots out of that new camo cardiac arrest that I have named Sagittarius. Why Sagittarius? I’m glad you asked in mythology, Sagittarius is depicted as a centaur archery who avenges the death of Orion. I figured all the deer skulls on the bow should be named after a hunter of such high esteem.

This is bare shaft tuning and the shots are taken at about 15-20 yards.

Here’s a few more pics. Bare shaft was flying weak, so I simply shortened the arrow. There is no denying how effective the camo is on the bow. It is actually hard to see against that tree. Wife bought me an EFA quiver for my b day and these are also the first shots with the quiver. I love how light and secure it is! For small game and stumping a back quiver makes sense. However this is gonna be perfect for stand hunting and stalking.

Made several more adjustments and was getting good results with the bare shaft. So I cut them all and installed different kinds of tips. Then took a test shot with the string tracker and it performed flawlessly. Looking pretty good and the bow is completely ready. Just need to test broadheads flight. Glad I was able to save the arrows and man this bow can shoot.

They surely do. This one is 66" long and 56 lbs at 28". It really zings them arrows to the target.
