First Takedown Recurve

#1 Post by Elkman »

Inside my Elk Seeker longbow build topic there was interest in my building of recurves.
I thought I would share pics of a takedown recurve that I made many years ago. They are old pictures, but hopefully they will present okay.

Is that a Binghams design? The first one's i made were the Binghams designs.

Yes it is. I didn't match it completely, but close enough to tell it is one of theirs. The limb shape is a little different also. At the time I made it there was a guy down the road who, at one time, worked under Dale Dye. He gave me a little tip that was supposed to help improve it over Binghams limb design. I never would have known the difference, and still don't.

Thanks Doug! There are many of us hear who can make bows. Carpdaddy (Tony) does a great job as do others. Tradman (Larry) is learning how to make them and is making great progress. He would like to start using his bows in some of our giveaways. Actually he has one going now.
Enjoy the site Doug. Thanks for becoming a Tradhunter member.
