Looks good. Good luck with it. I’ll be watching for the overlays.

Re: Just like Christmas morning
Over the years as a custom cabinet maker I have been exposed to similar issues on cabinet parts. Less oily woods though.
I am not a finishing expert, but I have done a lot of it.
There are various sealers that will help with that issue.
Another thing I have done that worked is to wipe the outer oils off the wood with a solvent (Denatured alcohol or lacquer thinner) before the first coat of finish. This is part of the reason why the lacquer based finishes dry better.
Thunderbird Archery has a filler/sealer that will help you to put various types of finishes on Bacote and Cocobolo along with other oily woods. It is $15 a quart. The problem with that is you will have to wait for it plus pay the shipping.
Zinsser SealCoat Universal Sanding Sealer is what I have in the shop now. It drys very fast and could probably be used as the finish.

Thanks for the pointers. I did wipe the whole bow down with alcohol before applying the tru oil. The finish on the bacote is still slightly tacky. I’ll probably sand it off and try one of you guys suggestions. If all else fails I bet St Joe River bows would shoot some thunderbird on it for me, they aren’t far from me.
