Restless with excitement.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
Re: The Birth of a bow - A short Elk Seeker
After coming up with the center line I layout and cut the limb shape.
Then I prep the palm swell overlay by sanding it to match the belly side of the riser. Then I prep some black glass off-cut for a accent. Once they are ready I glue them on with the same Smooth-On EA 40 epoxy that I use on the bows. Once clamped I put the handle section in my small hot box for about 1 1/2 hrs at about 155°.
After cooking the overlays and removing the clamps I will clean it up again and get it sanded to the finish width of 1 3/8" and sand the limb shape to my lines that I cut strong earlier.

Okay, we are getting closer to stringing this longbow up.
I shaped the limbs a bit more and started prepping for tip overlays.
Got them clamped on and cooked them in the small hot box for about 45 minutes each. Let them cool and removed the clamps.
I don't know why for sure, but I just go ahead and put the overlays on before stringing the bows for the first time.

I got some string grooves put in and I shaped, tilled and balanced the limbs.
Then I prepared the overlays for the back part of the handle. I ended up using some of the off cut I was saving so Dale could use it for knife scales.
Sorry Dale.
Time to cut in the grip and shelf.
