still have these sitting in the garage. haven't done much with them for a while. soon though, soon. The smaller bow is well, now smaller. Had an error in my measurements. It has been shortened to kid size..... Need to add new tips and check the taper. Always measure and check your wood.

These 3 bows are just sitting in the garage. Concerned they are too dry to work right now. Will get to them around. April.

Nice! I just marked out a piece of Maple yesterday. Hoping to cut it into shape by this weekend. It's my first Pyramid bow as well. I'm going to try to keep it around 35lbs so my wife and/or kids can shoot it. Are you going to back it with anything?
Good Luck!

Greg, stop into Home Depot and Menards every time I'm close to them to look. I haven't found ANY good wood...until yesterday. Yesterday Home depot had a great Red Oak board and a Maple board. Menards had a good Maple. I buy them with I see them and draw up my plans and ideas when I have no wood. Be patient! After a month of searching, I'm finally starting a Pyramid, then going to try a Mollegabet. Good luck!

Good luck Jon. Me and James are thinking the wood may be to dry right now with the air being so dry. We are thinking that may be the cause of mine to break. I did find a red oak board but i'm waiting for the moisture content to come up some. Jerry had one break about the same time also. Right now i am working on refinishing a Wing Chaparral recurve.

I haven't worked on this for a while. No, I don't like backing board bows. Straight grain they don't need a backing. I passed on a hickory and oak board today they probably could have made a bow but had some runout on the edges.

run out is killer for sure. I have set all of my staves and boards outside but in the dry to get more moisture. I had them inside the house but the dry heat had to be bad on them for bow building. I also have been going about my bow building more slowly, hopefully allowing the wood to rehydrate enough as I go. it pays on the boards to wait for the best wood grain and not chance it. I have backed one board bow with bamboo, it had iffy grain and still seems ok. I have gotten my best boards, red oak only, at Lowes. Jerry

I managed to get one of them tillered. 45@28 66" ntn. I have a piece of oak glued on for a rest and drying. Will have to file, sand and shape some more after it dries. I don't plan on wrapping the handle on this one. At least not right now. Has about .75-1" of set after working the limbs. Will finish shooting in once my elbows don't hurt so badly.
