New bow in town

#1 Post by Jamesh76 »

68” 40@29 my son wanted a rabbit bow so here it is. Bow is 1 1/8 wide at fades to mid limb tapering to 3/8 nock. Handle is 1” wide. Antler rest, leather strike plate. I built up a palm swell with leather and shaped with a file. Wrapped in walnut stained jute. String is b55, beaver silencers. Snake skins are northern water snake. I made 5/16 birch arrows 35# spine walnut stain, natural cap and shield cut goose feathers with a snake skin wrap at the stain/natural wood transition line. The neat think about this bow, my son helped harvest the Osage, caught and skinned the snake skins, killed the goose for feathers, trapped the beaver and shot the buck the antler rest was made from. Sealed with bullseye shellac.

Awesome looking bow James! And your son gathering the things used in the bow build, and the arrows, just makes it that much more awesome! I’m sure he will be very pleased!
Waiting to see his first kill with it.

Very nice James!
It's awesome that your son accomplished so much to contribute to the making of that bow. Well done on his part!
Between the two of you it was done very Traditionally.
You both had a lot of work into that bow. It will be something treasured by you both for ever.

Priceless I'd say ⛤⛤⛤⛤⛤

another beautiful bow. Your son should have a lot of fun with it and hopefully take some game with it. The snake skin really sets it off nicely
