Big group of germans settled in texas too. I met some mennonite germans from canada once... they spoke a very weird dialect.

Sorry to hijack your thread, just brought back some old memories lol.

LT...STOP...it's not hijacking... it's about memories... started with food, cultures, Germans, then migrates to whatever is of interest... all good!

I looked over the Ozarks in AR and MO before settling on here... everything there was just 'sparse' but did run into one Mennonite biz with bulk foods. He was from KS I think...

That was a blast... GOODS STORE and we had one named the same back home run by Mennonites. I had a great visit with him, but realized his input helped me settle on the reality that was not where I needed to be...

Course, likely more land to hunt there then here, but still was pretty "sudden" country... up and down quick like!
All we have and call our own, once belonged to someone else, and will again. Our purpose here is not to serve ourselves.
