Then I pin the scales together making sure the dummy Mark's line up and cut the other side.

Then I belt sand the pommel end roughly and oversized.

Then with the scales pinned together I work the blade end to the finished shape because I can't shape that part after they are epoxied on.

Epoxy spread evenly and some in the holes.
Clamped up and some epoxy gets squeezed out the sides but that gets sanded off when I finish the profile.
Also I make sure the brass pins are sticking out both sides so they will get sanded flush and look good.
That's it for now, the epoxy takes a day to setup.

Curiosity; what does a blade like that cost? I saw you listed where you got it.

This was $17.45 and it is cryogenic heat treat so the same blade can be a couple $ less than that.

Here is a link to there home page. You can get everything to make a knife. Even raw stock if you want to start from scratch.
Funny thing, it cost me roughly $20 for a piece of steel to make a knife and you can get a finished blade from them for$25-$35 but like my wife told me, it doesn't have my character in it.
But in the case of the cheff knife, I don't have a way to heat treat it and its difficult to make a large blade that thin.
So why not.
