Jason, one of the things about the Pearson bows that eludes me is 'recognition'. The Bear bow names are suggestive of the usage/design and in my mind, seem to stick better. Just about everyone knows what a "Grizzly" is, and what it does, same with the "Kodiak" series, etc. Some of the Pearsons came without a common name and only a model number (e.g. "1945") which really leaves the uninformed clueless.
I believe this is part of the reason BP bows are lagging way behind the Bears in popularity...people don't understand or know what they are. Good for the buyer/collector; bad for the seller. Plus, being a production giant, Pearson produced so many different bows as to be dizzyingly confusing. When someone tells you they have a K-Mag for sale, you might not know the particulars, but you know it's 52", short and maneuverable, and either natural or green.

Yeahey, I'm not really looking for a collectors' piece. The intent is to use it (at least periodically).
The guy hasn't emailed me back yet; likely due to the whole "work day" thing  . Oh well, if he doesn't get back to me, I can always save up my birthday pennies and tax return and find something good else. LBS has a nice Bear Cub, 53# for $200.
And before anyone mentions how expensive that might be, two hundred Canadian dollars is barely enough to get a Big Mac once south of the border

I dont think even $200 dollars U.S. is much to pay for a decent bow.

I dont know anything about the model you are looking at, but I do know about the Pearson Cougar. I just gave away a 45 lb to a good friend who could use it for his kids coming up. I can say the bow shot and handled pretty darn good for its age. I had no trouble hitting with it, and though it wasnt barn burning fast, it still had plenty. I look favorably upon the Pearsons of old, and for what they twere and are, well worth the going price.

You only interested in old bows and heavy bows? I know of a really good Samick Red Stag (Leapord II) that might be coming up for sale. Its only a 45lb bow though...but fast and a great shooter.

I wouldn't say I'm only interested only in old and heavy bows...I'd like to get my hands on something in the 50-55# range, and old is... typically what I can afford  .

Thanks for the offer, Jasonot but I think I'm going to hold back a bit for the time being

Jason, wasn't suggesting it was a collector's piece by any means, nor rare. If you get it, shoot it!
If not, do check out some of the eBay auctions.Same rules apply, naturally...do your homework, ask questions, and ask for photos, especially if there are only a few or they are poor quality. Any good eBay-er worth his salt will be happy to provide details. After I decided I wanted a Bear Tamerlane read up on everything I could find, determined what the going price was ($500-$1000.00) and put it on my watch list. I ended up snagging a beauty for a only couple hundred because I knew what I wanted, what I could afford to pay, and I wasn't afraid to let one walk. Same deal with the K-hunter and the K-mag. Yes,you can get burned if you're not careful, but you will almost always pay less than the LBS, plus eBay will work to help you get your money back if you get hosed.
Just a suggestion.

Jase, another bow make to watch for are the Wing Archery bows. They were made by the same guy who now makes Bob Lee Bows. I especially like the Hunter model, but there are several nice models to choose from. They are most times very affordable and are quite nice bows.

Thanks, Jason, I'll keep my eyes peeled for that!

***UPDATE*** The guy still hasn't replied to me about the Gamester. I think I'm going to walk away.
