I had those on my recurve with the broadheads exposed when I took my first bow kill.
Safety wasn't given so much thought back then....

I remember my Daddys quiver being completely open with no hood at all. Funny, I dont remember him ever cutting himself as a result as long as he hunted with them.

I have used them that way. Had these a long time but now I only use one part of it for the bottom, I use a hooded one on top. The reason I use these rather than the one that came with the hood is that the arrows go straight down and end up out in front of the limb on curvy short bows like this one.
