Trees usually do that due to a vine that wrapped around it as it grew. Folks around here like to use them to make walking sticks.

I am headed for my perch tomorrow morning.looking forward to hunting the ladder stand for the first time.

Hunted till 10:15 this morning. Jumped a deer 40 yards from the stand going in and that was all the action I had. Will be back out this evening.
