The Joy of defeat!
I know it’s supposed to be agony but anytime you can get away to Deer camp it’s a great time! We left out Tuesday morning early, arrived nearly five hours later, set up camp, then hit the trail to scout! Spent the evening looking for access to the property without having to cross private property.
Wednesday morning we had rain, but out we went to scout LBL since our hunt didn’t start until Thursday.

It was kinda tough with the rain and all that morning, we were roughing it!

But by evening hunt time it was bright and sunny, almost too sunny to see the small buck I had to run off so I could climb. He came back later and visited Mark to tempt him.

That looks like a good time.
The feed don't look bad either.

Still in Ky, just far western part, I live in Southeast.
Saw another large deer pass by about 60-70 yards away as it was getting dark, another Came near Mark and blew a while!

Thursday morning; first hunt on draw, sat up on some sign I had located. Late in morning this guy really tempted me! Came in to about 20-22 yards and began rubbing his face in a tree or making a rub. I was trying to decide whether to shoot or not, he finally made the decision for me and moved on out of range.

Here he is at about 30 yards, you can see looking closely that his spread is inside the ears, maybe 13”.

I would have thumped him.
