James how do you like that thermacel? My buddy has one but I do not. I got killed the other day by mosquitos.

Night and day difference. Just put on the upwind side of you. Takes probably 30 mins before it takes effect. Last 4-5 hours per pad and probably 10 hour per butane bottle. You will still get bit a few times but nothing like not having it.

Nice cam pics. Just for the record i have used thermacell from canada to the bottoms of arkansas delta. I would not leave home without it in mosquito country. Looks like james you have some nice bucks to keep you motivated. Good luck. I would love to see you put one of those on the ground

Good to know... I got killed the other day. I'm glad you posted that pic. I was sceptical

Gentleman some posts within the last month or so had me losing interest in this site. Not just 1 in specific but multiple. Replies made to some peoples posts have turned off my interest, experienced advise not taken, unexperienced advise, assumptions on equipment, stalking methods, reviews of products etc. I do still read posts as I enjoy reading your experiences while hunting. A few of you have knowledge of my frustration. I have decided to continue this thread of my seasons hunt for your enjoyment. It may not be as lengthy as last years. However, I will continue it for you all to enjoy.

Last Monday evening, I had a doe come in along a fence line on the property I was hunting which separated the timber from a hay field. I am sitting in a tree approximately 7 yards from the fence. They walk down this fence on both sides. I had a mature doe come in. I anchored and released my arrow to hit her high. I was 10-12'up in the stand and was a pretty steep shot. Based on what I seen, the arrow hit just below the spine but above the lungs. I waited and got down to check my arrow before looking for her. The arrow was covered in fat with minimal blood, no smell etc. Confirmed my shot location. Frustrated, I knew the show was not likely fatal and the deer would likely survive. After the shot, she jumped the fence and ran about 100 yards stopping. By watching her run, you would have thought there was no injury to the deer. The only proof I had was the fat on my arrow. I walked over to where she was last standing. I searched the area and found very small amounts of blood. I searched for several hours without finding any good blood sign. The area she ran into was a small wood lot. I searched the whole area including the bean field with no other sign. Frustrated I gave up on the search. I learned a few lessons on this hunt. I even preplanned to have her walk past me to have a quartering away shot which was a little further but way better angle. Caught in the moment. I diverted from my plan and made a poor shot.
