Re: Jamesh76 2021 Hunting thread (gonna be cut short)

#24 Post by Jamesh76 »

I am going to have to cut this thread short for this year. I am not getting out as often as I would like. I also have a injury to my right elbow which makes it difficult to practice and stay accurate enough for hunting. Sure I can still fling a couple arrows. But I am just not as accurate and the pain aggravates me enough I cannot get a good practice session in.

In short, I will be having surgery on my right elbow to repair scar tissue and tendons on Dec. 8th. Recovery is 6-12 weeks depending on if they detach the tendon or ligaments. I still intend to hunt, but not with the weapon of choice by me or this site so I not be active in this topic.

I believe my injury came when I harvest a large amount of woods for my bow building hobby. The 2-3 days of continuous pulling bark off and splitting is what I feel injured my arm. Lesson learned, take it slow and not a whole truck load at a time.

Good luck to those of you hunting. Keep us updated.

Sorry to hear this James. Hope you have good success with whatever you are able to hunt with. I had to go light on weight several years ago, but it has allowed to to continue doing what I enjoy, and hasn’t kept me from taking Deer. Hopefully you can ease back into it after some mending time. Hope you hang around and keep us updated.

Aw, shucks, James! Since I too am sitting this one out I was hoping to hunt vicariously through you. Welp, somebody else gonna have to step up.

I will make posts to this thread again as I hunt. I was able to get a lighter weight bow I feel pretty good about. Stay tuned!

At it this morning. Trail camera didn't have any pictures for a week. Not sure if there have been no deer or if it's malfunctioning. Did hear one trot off walking in.
