So James , do I remove the thumb rest or leave it like it is ?
If I remove it , there will be smooth polished antler down the full side .
I think it would remove much of the charicter .

I just busted out 5 squirrels with my Graps knife. Like I didn't do a thing to it, That sucker holds an edge. I love that D2 blade. I think mine was 62 rockwell if I'm thinking right. I did 2 entire deer last year with it before I finally had to sharpen it. Best blade I've ever owned.
The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.

Never been asked that before .
I sharpen by hand with a stone and then a Hard Arkansas stone .
The blade is held somewhere around 8-10 degrees per side but that is as close as I can measure it .
I hope that answers your question .

It does. I typically use a lansky. But would have to hand sharpen for that angle
