Re: A sad day indeed!
Now I got this one ready and one on the way!
Re: A sad day indeed!
The sad days are looking up, season is close! And my new shorter version to match my old favorite is beginning to please me well. My day began with a two hour drive to my kidney Dr. All I got from him was a “Where’s my bow?”. He actually sent his receptionist out to the lobby to tell me I couldn’t come back to see him if I didn’t bring him a bow! She was new and didn’t know the argument we have had going on for many years. I told him I would build him a bow when he gave me a key to his gate leading into his farm that he shows me big buck trail cam pictures from!
Being there I had to stop by Cabelas where a Grizzly nearly slipped up on me! Also the Sportsman’s Wearhouse and the Woodcraft Store! Found nothing!!

Got home, rested a while, then had to mow!! But finally late this evening since I didn’t have Church tonight I tested the Cutoff Carp more! Today’s target, a Mater with a bad place in it, sticking in my hand me down Deer core replacement targets. Yo Maters are safe with me!

Re: A sad day indeed!
I did manage to jar it out of the target on the first shot. So I put it back in and backed up some more, this time I pined it on the first shot, and the second! All downhill after that. But I figured out which arrows my newly worked bow likes. 500 spine, 50gr weight tube, 250gr point!

Looks like it's working.

Re: A sad day indeed!
Finally got around to checking my draw weight on the bit shorter bow. It has 43lb written in it, that’s what it was when I first finished it, or first check before shortening. I should mention that I not only shortened it, which would increase draw weight, I also trapped the limbs, which reduces draw weight. “Trapping” means to narrow the back glass tapering it back to the wider belly. I think it may be the opposite on a selfbow but don’t quote me on that, my memory is not what it once was. Anyhow, I scaled it after all this and it came out... 43lb!!

Re: A sad day indeed!
My Cardiac Arrest that I got from Jose is 43#.
He had to retiller it to split finger for me so he cut it down a couple of inches and made new string nocks.
This is deja vu for me.
