I thought I would mention this.
So many times I hear people say that stumpin' is good practice.
Or shooting at there target is good practice.
Well I don't call it that, to me it's fun, entertaining, good therapy and stuff like that.
Don't get me wrong, it is good practice but I just don't think of it that way.
Is it practice?

Re: Is it practice?
I agree also.
I had a chance to shoot some a couple days ago and although I didn't do as well as I would like, I was able to take all of the little things plaguing my thoughts and put them aside for almost an hour. After having shoulder issues for the 3 seasons prior to last season it was quite satisfying to be able to get that time shooting my longbow. Once I get a chance I will hit the woods and start stumping once again.
I still need to get some therapy (PT) on the shoulder for strength, but it was sure great to shoot for that length of time again with no problems with pain.

If you "make" it practice, you run the risk of loosing the joy.
Jesus replaces the old covenant and speaks to the believer the moral code of God by His Spirit directly to the heart. He is the eternal, everlasting revelation of God to mankind. In Him is both the knowledge of righteousness and the power to live right.

I would agree...stumpin' is something other than practice; it's an activity unto itself. I have known a guy that DOESN'T hunt at all, but instead, goes "hunting stumps" as he calls it, and will spend an entire weekend day afield doing nothing but. "Some people bowl, some play ball. I stump", he says.
My son and granddaughter love stumping with me in the north woods when we go up there.
