What would you do scenario 2

Come on in and sit a spell. There's a seat for you around the campfire.

What would you do scenario 2

#1 Post by Graps »

It's opening day and in the morning just getting light enough to see well.
A small buck has presented you with a perfect shot opportunity and there is a very large doe in shooting position as well.
You have two tags, one is good for either and the other is buck only.
You are very sure you probably won't get to shoot both now because obviously all will run at the shot.

Mature does bring the mature bucks to the land. Spare the doe and shoot the buck.

I actually prefer doe's. I think the are better eating.

I agree. But in the scenario I'd take the buck.

I shoot the doe. If you want big bucks dont shoot the little ones. Sure mating can bring in big bucks. However, having too many does can have a negative effect sometimes. You want bucks searching for does. Too many and they dont have to move very far.
