I'll save you all the trouble. No harvest was made. It was an exciting hunt and has a pretty cool story to tell. I needed that hunt to re excite me.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Re: Stumper's 2019 Tag Soup Thread
Ok so I left at about 4 am to get to Huntchinson Creek wma. I got into the WMA around 545 and met with a compound hunter named Kelvin. Very nice older guy, we discussed our plans and chose our stand locations so we wouldn't interfere with one another. The WMA is only 129 acres so its quite small and is bow hunt only for deer. I get to my stand location which I have dubbed Pine Island and get into the stand for 0630. As I am doing so, two crossbow hunters and a compound hunter pass me without exchanging a word. I notice no tree stands on their backs.
3 hours go by and nothing... I decide I'm going to get down and head home.. as I do the compound/crossbow hunters are coming back dragging a beautiful sow. They went to the pipe line clearing and stalked within 15 yards of the sow killing it with the compound bow. Apparently they do this all the time. Note to self.... I'm gonna try that next time.. reinvigorated that a kill occurred, I hiked down to the pipeline and sat in the woods near the creek. Another hour goes by and I decide to call it. I hike back to the pipeline clearing and as I do about 11am at this time I see a deer 65 to 70 yards in the clearing... a beautiful mature doe probably 3 or 4 years old. Crap, I have my stand on my back and begin to walk closer..the deer looks right at me, I stop... the deer goes back to grazing and I move to 50 yards.. I can hit a target bull at 50 1 out of 5 shots... not good enough odds for my first attempt and is beyond my self imposed range limit of 25 yards... I drop my stand like a bad habit and the stalk begins.... more to come.

Re: Stumper's 2019 Tag Soup Thread
I close to 50 yards, put the idea of a long shot out of my mind. And start creeping toward the deer. She looks up but is unafraid by my presence. She slowly starts walking into the woods and I go on a collision course for her. I'm unfortunately making a ton of noise everything is so dry and is crunching under my boots. Nothing I can do about it and I have to move with effort because the deer is faster than I. She stops just inside the wood line and I have now closed the distance to 20 yards and I have a clear shot...... however the only shot she is giving me is her tail. I'm pretty desperate to get a trad kill on a deer, but i wont take that shot. Hindsight is 20 20 and i should have grunted or something to make her turn. She runs off and i think she's gone, but then there she is at 25 yards perfect broadside shot..... but the thickest patch of vines is in between us and as much as I would love to thread a shot. There is literally no hole at all big enough for an arrow to pass. No shot.... I move to my right to change the angle but then she disappears without a trace. To put this in perspective I am now 1/4 quarter mile from my stand.... I love early bow season as the deer aren't that shy yet. I come to a fork thinking I have nothing to lose. I go right and find a small body of water not on my map and it has deer, bear and hog prints galore. I go back retrieve my stand and head back to this body of water.... more to come.
