Knee surgery

#1 Post by Elkman »

Well after 35 years of problems with my right knee that I injured while I was in the Navy the VA has finally allowed something to be done as far as making it better. I am going into surgery here in just awhile. They are calling it a ACL reconstruction. While they are in the knee they will look at everything and fix what they can.

I am hoping that this will allow me to hunt Elk in areas I have stopped hunting because of the knee.

We'll see how it goes.

Best of luck to you. We will keep you in our prayers that the Lord guide those doing this work.

I became very dependent on a stout walking stick the last few years I hunted. Instead of having a perfectly flat bottom or a rubber cup, it was cut similar to a deer's hoof. It seemed odd that way, but I left it the way the boys cut it for me years ago. It would really dig in when I needed that help going up hill or just stabilizing me. Yet obviously it was not good on pavement. They left the fork in it at the top which is what I'd originally asked for to be used during handgun season as a rest if needed. It also came in handy during muzzleloader season if there were no trees to stabilize against.

Well the surgery went well as for as I can tell.
For some reason the Surgeon didn't come in and fill me in on what was actually done and give me his take on how it went.

So all I know is that it hurts! Especially on the back side which points to the PCL?

I will be using crutches and wearing this brace in this pic for about 2 weeks. I go to my first PT tomorrow morning 😞
