Mountain Men

#1 Post by Elkman »

Who watches the TV show Mountain Men?
I really like watching it myself. At least two of the men are here in Montana.

I've never heard of it. Buy then again, I don't have cable or satellite.

I do. Haven't kept up with this season, but watched most of the past ones. I assume you are referring to Tom Oar?
It's a pretty good show, all in all.

Yeah, Tom Oar, Rich Lewis and the new kid Jake Herak. Jake is doing what Rich was. Running his dogs to tree Mountain Lions.

Dale the show is on the History Channel. The history channel has an app and you can watch the show there I think.

I watch all those shows. I guess I have no life. Born 100 years to late.

Up until I about ten years ago my friend Mike and I practically lived in the outdoors.
We didn't take much food with us. We might have some jerky or once in a while some smoaky links.
When we got hungry we would graze, like Mike would put it or most times, build a very small fire and roast some squirrels or rabbits or what ever we had.
Fires were always started with a flint and steel or bow drill. Occasionally we would use a Ferrell rod with magnesium, but that was done just because we had one with us in case of emergency.
Mike started to slow down because of medical problems and it was only a few years later that we lost him to a heart valve infection.
We had many years of doing that...........
Yep, the good old days...........🙄

They should of had a show on Michigan mountain men. You would have been a good candidate for the show Dale. If I ever had to live off the land I wouldn't make it 24 hours.

Greg, you would do better than you think.
Most people get too anxious or panic.
Think of it like you have been locked in a grocery store and your not going to be able to get out for two weeks.
You would know what to do, just don't second guess yourself.

I watch when I can. Running lions with dogs would be a blast.

Sounds like great times in the woods, Dale. I haven’t had one of those adventures in quite a while.
