LinemanSteve took a trip

#1 Post by Carpdaddy »

Went to Iowa and all I got was some big thick pieces of scrap wood. But it's Osage!

Don't think there is in these pieces but there are a lot of lams and risers. He has some Osage staves that he has split out that are drying.

That's a big chunk of Osage! Most of 'em I saw were 2" in diameter or less.

Have an Osage tree without leaves this season. It was dropping seeds in the fall. Pretty decent size tree. Is it dead?

Do they go dormant?

Never saw a living one where I live so I wouldn't know anything about them other than that it's Purdy wood and strong. Makes a great selfbow.
