Believe it or not the waterbased stuff is weather resistant. Now days even Bohning sells waterbased stains and paints on their website. Of course as with oil based the product should be dry before coating over it.
Only issue I have with waterbased paints is they do not "pop" like the Bohning Laq.

However, I'm trying to sell myself on the 'house-friendly' idea so I don't get into deep weeds with Her Royal Highness on the smell issue.
Looks are secondary to performance and user friendliness.

Wow , I never have a problem with the misses about the smell , she doesn't go to the garage .
