My new Border Hawk hunter :)
My new Border Hawk hunter
Just got my new Hawk hunter from Border Archery
To say I`m satisfied would be an understatement. Sid and Ann @ Border is doing a great job with making one of the smoothest, fastest and most accurate longbows I have ever had the pleasure to shoot.
My bow has the following specs:
66” 63@31 Cocobolo riser with golden walnut, finger grooves and buffalo horn.
The limbs are Borders own carbon with golden maple and yew.
The broadhead is a gift I got from Ray Hammond @ Hog Heaven in South Carolina when hunting there in Oct. 2010.
The bow is light in hand and a type of longbow you could wal, climb the mountains with the whole day without getting the feeling of “dragging” the bow behind you.
The feel I get when shooting it is following:
It is loading early but so smooth that I had to measure the weight at my drawlength because it felt like pulling something in the mid 50`s.
My drawlength is a thad over 31” and on my weight it shows 64#.
The speed I get out of it is very satisfying :
660 grainEaston fmj 400 spine full length 100 gn, insert and 200 up front gives whopping 184 fps!
702 Easton fmj 340 spine full length 100 gn insert 200 up front gives 179 fps.
This is without properly tuning, and I guess after tuning I`ll get even more out of it
