Secured my voucher area

#1 Post by Carpdaddy »

I have been scanning maps and watching closely the Elk hunt voucher program here in Ky. They added a new one only an hour from home. They have had it posted for some time now that sign ups for these places opens the 29th at 8:00 AM, that's exactly when I entered!!
This is a deal that Fish & Wildlife makes with landowners to allow hunting on their property, there were only two spots opening on this property so I was ready! Now hopefully there will be Elk there! I spoke with a biologist from Ky dept F&W and he said he knew they were there last winter, he couldn't say about early season. I'm fired up.

Me too, likely to be my last time to get to hunt Elk. Hard to get drawn.

The good thing is, the boiler room is a bit bigger on wapiti.

Another good thing is that you will save in nocks! Don't shoot them off much at that distance, of course I didn't anyway.

Yes we have Elk now since the restoration project began. Getting drawn is the biggest part of the adventure though. Get on Ky dept of fish and wildlife site this spring and put in. I got drawn and spent very little time trying, most of my time out was in the deer woods. Just so much easier to go deer hunting locally where I can get to quickly and have help if I get one. Old age and sickness does that too a fellow!
