safety harness??
So what is ya'lls favorite safety harness when in the tree stand??? I just got one that came with LW climber but looking to get sommething more comfy (vest style). At this time I have a safety line on my hang on sets where I can lock in before leaving terrafirma just a rope with a prussik, but wanting to change up my actual harness.

Re: safety harness??
Jake;
I'm currently not using a harness as I'm hunting from a ground blind. But it's a safe bet to invest in a new one for the upcoming season with the latest & greatest innovations...maybe someone here can recommend one? Funny how some folks will spend big bucks on a bow and gear but not be concerned for their own well-being.

Re: safety harness??
I have been wanting to try the Muddy vest harness but can't seem to find a good after season bargin on it. So for now I'm using one that came free with a stand. I keep scanning for deals though on a vest type that would still be cool. BTW; I don't spend big bucks on a bow either. Not that I wouldn't but I have been forced to hold out for deals.
Re: safety harness??
I have used the generic strap style harnesses for years and got along with them well enough. The biggest problem with them is unraveling the mess that they become no matter how you pack them away. A couple months ago, I bought a vest style harness on clearance at menards, I can't remember the brand though. After looking it over, all I can say is it will equate to much more time in the tree over time and less time breaking knots! Good on ya using that prussik climbing system, that's a great tree climbing knot, one of my favorites right along with the blakes hitch. Both are fantastic friction knots.
Re: safety harness??
I use a hunters specialtys safety harness. Started wearing one when I bought my lone wolf climber. I since sold that because it wasn't secure enough but I still where a harness. I also recommend getting the rope style connector for the strap. Makes it a lot easier to climb with it on and secure yourself to the tree.

I don't remember what mine is, but its also the skeleton type. Very similar to a Muddy or Hunter Specialties. I got my oldest boy a vest style several years ago. Honestly I do not care for it. Its too hot when its a bit warmer and I don't like stuffing my hunting clothes in it as it is restrictive. To me, a good skeleton type is more comfy and convenient.
The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.

Oh great! If I end up hating my vest, I still have 3 skeletons to fall back on.Shadowhntr wrote:I don't remember what mine is, but its also the skeleton type. With the muddy or hs, there is enough material between the strapping that they kinda hold their shape so tangling is very rare. Wyatt has a full strap skeleton and it gets tangled if you aren't very careful. I've tried to get him something else but he dont want it....he says he likes the dumb thing.

Re: safety harness??
With the one I am currently using you have to start early and put it on at home in good light, you don't want to be out there in the dark trying to work the puzzle! LinemanSteve gave me a nice harness used when climbing and servicing on electric poles. Nice but a little heavy for my liking. So I continue to be in the market, I'm watching this.
