Getting Osage to give off that aged glow!
A man who builds a lot of selfbows told me that you can speed up the age of osage(getting the color darker) by making a plastic tent and putting the bow and some ammonia in the tent. He said it speeds the process up and gives your bow that beautiful hue that aged osage has. Anyone done this or heard of this? I'm trying it right now with a bow I just finished and have not sealed it yet.

Let us know how you make out snag!

I have rubbed down the unfinished bow with ammonia and set in direct sun works "a little"

I left this selfbow under the tent with 3 jars of ammonia placed around it for about a week. It definitely colored it up to that golden hue that aged osage is known for. I will use this technique again.

Do you have a picture of the bow after the aging process?
Re: Getting Osage to give off that aged glow!
Sorry, I left the bow at a cabin so I don't have to tote it back and forth. No pics.

Spoken like a true obsessive-compulsive.
