Re: Where's my saw?
Here's what I have in mind for the knife display. I will mount it on a wood disk.

Re: Where's my saw?
I have changed my mind about the thumb rise. I think it wouldn't flow with the shape of the handle.
I'm going to make a five inch blade that is a cross bread with a trailing point and a clip blade.
It will flow straight from the back of the antler and then do a slight drop, and then curve up to the tip.

I made a cartoon of what I have in mind. You need to imagine there's a brass guard on there

Re: Where's my saw?
Got the blades blanked out. To get an idea of how big they are, the blades are 5" long.

Re: Where's my saw?
beautiful... if you need somebody to test one... Just let me know, my belt is available.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
Re: Where's my saw?
Well I had some time to work on the knives and........
I'm cutting the slot for the blade tang in the antler and guess what?!
This antler is still green. Must have been from a deer this past fall.
CRAP!!
I'm going to look online and see if I can bake them in an oven or something to dry them out.
If not, I guess I'll finish them up next summer.

Re: Where's my saw?
Found a guy that uses green antlers and hits them with a propain torch until the color changes.
Claims to work just fine.
So I'm going to bake them for a while and wee shall see.

Re: Where's my saw?
Good luck. Let us know how it works out.
Re: Where's my saw?
Baked them for 3 hours and it worked.
The inside color changed darker but the outside stayed the same. They do feel lighter.
